Future of “B” School
The post impact of globalized economy and its role on delivering the goods through qualitative physical evidences or the product with sustainable relationship have raised the questions on the show often been appeared under the name of Management Studies. Today every district of India is decoratively distinguished with more than one management school, mostly run and owned by private partners, unaware with the on-going process about how to make and get future manager as per demand and requirement of living market.
There are more than 30 different regulatory bodies including fully fledged technical universities with an autonomy ,duly provided by state Government concerned ,unfortunately but became favorable employment generating house for retired and under performer than an active monitor to check and control the ambiguities.
In India none ,not even any IIMs or IITs are considered within the prescribed definition of Global ranking, Majority of the Universities don’t follow NAAC guidelines and many of them did not conducted any research project since last decade. The students who have enrolled in the courses of doctoral program have dwindling for beyond the schedule of completion provided by University Grant Commission and more interestingly ,role of either Government have found sympathetic enough to continue such wastage of outputs under the public exchequer. J.NU., J.U, D.U, Univ of Calcutta are the classic example of such neglectful approaches, which brought our research capability in an embarrassing position on international education forum.
To cut a long discussion in to a specific debate,coming to the role of a Business school . What is the role of our Business school? Are they able to bring out numbers who can show the path of future business in a direction ? Are they able to assume the future model of Indian
Market? Are the existence of ‘B’ Schools have made any differences among the behaviorism of market and marketers if not ,then alarm is ringing and if we are unable to catch the ring then this is the fault of our ears not the bell .Today no body hesitate on what to produce and how to produce even for whom to be produced ,due to transcendental rather multi culture buying attitudes of our population. Which means no body wants to knock the attendance of
‘B’ School in order to get the knowledge about what is marketing or what will be the next process of operation management, even know body is interested to know about the gamut of industrial legislation.
Now a days pupil love to know how the share of marketing could be doubled within a quarter of performance, how operation could be possible with optimal wastage of not only raw materials but human as well as other capital and how an innovative sense could be applied to build and retain a sustainable growth of human capital resource management. Our business school is badly lacking with in bringing out the purpose of entire efforts, the business and the outputs at the end of the hour actually provide any dignity or advantageous condition among st the consumers? Or simply affected a lot to the community, their land, water, flora , fauna even in diurnal living also. Today people don’t invest on what neighborhoods already spent , sincere consumer like shopping only when purchasing bring them why it has been produced and prepossession of such item keeps them a head of others .
Post globalization marketing have made many illiterates ,familiar with various figures,symbols, signs and numerical, even with the language, what spoken and understood by you and me, the advent of technology in financial, trans port, education and daily shopping have added additional value in their sturdy lives, they begun to adapt and start hassle free style as the middle income feel a sigh of relief in during the payment of all available taxes in stipulated quarters. Similarly affluent begun to shift their choice, where service are provided under full proof of physical evidence and products are made without any kind destructive assistance.Technology brings business , concept of earlier decade that the owner of sea route and proprietor of iron ore mine are the player of any business have been replaced by innovative ideas dully supported by ever changing mode of technology. To day the owner of technology with an idea of trans parent ,safe and secured service is the leader of any business.Door Darshan has proved it, as earlier also, even during the telecasting of last speech of our Prime Minister on the eve two year completion of present Government. Due to ownership of technology remaining channels had to borrow entire portion of live telecast from its owner i.e. Government and as much as billions amount of profit so far been fetched from the rivals in the same market.
The most unfortunate part with our A or B Graded business school is ,all are run under the supervision of as many as twenty five to thirty different regulatory authorities made of twenty to thirty objectives,often been headed by person or group of persons as our sports authorities have been.
The major role of business school is not to ensure what, where ,how and when, knowledge acquired from the campus would be applied as an art in the business, but to translate the views of market in to action.
Our Business school don’t teach any how to become rich, how to become a visionary how to become a successful in crisis, they teach the meaning and objectives of the particular topic, they teach centurion old dy/dx application theory for operation management and they teach
background of each and every subject as the students of Indian Economics being taught by conventional educators, ignoring its relevant aspects in our future market. Business schools are not providing learning session neither industrial training from day one rather feel proud to arrange power-point based slide shows under the guidance of inferior faculties with unknown entity. It has been observed fifty to fifty five percent of entire population of
Business Schools of India don’t follow chalk & talk rather prefer to create hurried class room environment through power-point slide show. The most unfortunate part came during the entire period is when ever classes are arranged via video, pupil begun to disconnect from audio.which made both the teacher and the students out of the topic,an exercise with futile efforts have become the part of class room and as agent of incompetents due to complete absence of hand in hand practice in the syllabus.
C.S.R.is not the new mantra of but gradually become an essential part of Sustainability, targeted part become fond of organisation ,which deliver the things in their lives. Today marketers have to be not just good, brand must be outstanding not just standing on the stand and every purchasing could make you bigger, with better version and could claim a different statement of self identity. This is the marketing strategy as adapted by TOMS Shoe maker
“Shoes for Tomorrow” TOMS donate a pair to a child with every pairs of shoe purchased. We and our Business Schools don’t teach us such marketing strategy. Nokia, Bajaj Scooters, lohia Motors, Hindustan Motors, Hindustan Machine Tools, Indian Mica Corporation, National Textile Corporation, Allwyn Refrigerators,Indian Post & Telegraph,the list is endless were unable provide attention to new customers ,an impulsive situation as per global parameter, such myopic attitude had put forwarded them on premature death, people found alternatives shifted to Blue-Dart, Mahindra Motors, Swaraj Tractors, Titan, T.v.s. Maruti , Samsung and so on. Better service with vivid features are the demand, market is ready to pay if and when marketers are ready to deliver. Today rural market is reviving due to free access of on-line shopping at the door,trend has changed our syllabus committee has to act on such changing models,if we could not bring the relevant topics within the studies of Business Management then we could not become a part of sustainable growth.
Similarly, when we talk about Human Resource capital Management , we found role has been restricted within the known landscapes of labor legislation, the present syllabus does not teach us how to create a culture of global atmosphere rather how to control man power under the influence of reward and punishment,some time compensation. The scope of further career development through regular performance appraisal or to bring an open door functional system yet to been introduced. Fearfulness don’t allow creativity, it create hesitation in initiative, it makes a suffocated condition and under mines growth,smart employee become useless and under performer take the position of front runner.Our course of Human Resource Management yet to consider Human as the capital of an organisation, therefore future managers emerging out through known or unknown campus are unable to bring an environment, a climate of global culture within their organisation.
Procedures of manufacturing is the key factor of sustainability, China ,Japan, Koreans, Spain and Switzerland already shown us the importance of maximum output against minimum inputs . The market share are gaining day after day, their presence compel us to use their product , even if, second option.
The amazing part of the whole scenario is people who are deeply involved with policy making body still believe twenty to thirty separate regulatory body are sufficient enough to make a balance between global benchmark and the standard of Indian Business School, even if all of them are established with a motto and objectives of twenty or more than that different agenda of items.This policy is outdated and the role of policy makers found irrelevant, when more than fifty percent Engineering seats and above than seventy percent seats of Management Studies were unable to attract any student and kept remain vacant.
The duty of the Government is not to sell fast moving consumer items or to provide better service in customer oriented activities, but it is the duty of every Government to create and establish an environment of Business.This is the duty of investors to provide prompt service and deliver the things,which could change the lives of ordinaries. Therefore it is the responsibility of our policy makers and Business School regulatory body to think and behave on what actually investor want?They are badly seeking for (i) Performance (ii) Transparency (III)Trust (iv)Reliance (IV) Skill & Knowledge (v)Amicable atmosphere, under good governance.Subsequently it is the Pre- requisite of every customers to monitor the behavior of investor cum manufacturer, for example the things made of with environment friendly materials, the service provided at reasonable rate, the items are qualitative as per claim and are their existence causing any effect in to the customers or to the local community.
Our Business must adopt a syllabus which could teach us how to face the challenges ahead of us, which are ever changing, sometime changes before another taking place.
Current scenario does not permit monopoly, rather depend up on future market trends, here is the role of our Business School, how to detect such trend.how to detect future market channels and what will be next goal of Business Studies ? How a Business School differs from a simple graduate school? Recently 10 most richest person of India have been enlisted and made public, how many of them are management graduate? Similarly the list of richer in the world don’t suggest alumina of Famous Business School, because Business never teach how to become leader and richer than all, it teaches how to bear the flag under the leadership of masters. It has been found only 2% of the total strength of under and post graduate population are enrolling the stream of management studies and 35% science graduates are interested to continue further study in their own stream, reaming are still preferring to struggle for government jobs through open competition.
The future of not only Business Schools in India but conventional premises also going to become an institution with thick attendance, as our court of law have become lawyers more than the delivers of justice! Being a Teacher and Thinker of Management Studies what i observed that, days are in number when, education would be delivered through on-line classes, not as a practitioner for the next performance. It would be blunder when studies like Medical, Engineering, law, Governance, Geography or Natural Science Subject to be considered at par on-line shopping.
There is an urgent need of rigorous amendment in technical education policy, with an prompt revival of exciting institutions, through the professional performers. The era of amateur attitudes so far been adapted and practiced could not give us how to become best among the rests.
