10 Tips to raise your spirits to be happy at work place!
Some work to live, others live to work. So why shouldn’t we aim to be happy at work? After all, we spend a huge chunk of our time in the workplace. And that time will be much more enjoyable – or at least bearable – if our moods are lighter and we’re having a little bit of fun. Whichever category you fall into, being happy at work is always possible. Everyone strives to be happy. Even Superman makes time for Lois Lane! Whether you’re a CEO or a Secretary– these simple tips are sure to raise your spirits to happiness at work place:
- MAKE YOUR OWN “OFFICE NEST.”
You spend a lot of time at work – so make your space your own! Decorate in your favorite colors, stick motivational quotes and create an oasis where you can relax. You can improve your happiness greatly by making yourself feel comfortable and at home in your own personal Rat hole , but a clean one. A tidy and organized workspace encourages a clear mind – which means you’ll get tasks done quicker and feel better as you do it.
- KEEP THE 2 WORLDS SEPARATE.
Leave your personal problems at home. You know how many superheroes lead double lives? (Think Wade Wilson/Dead pool). As a worker, this is something you can adapt and employ to your advantage by leaving your personal life at home. Stress and emotions are exhausting. They consume and overwhelm you. So if your personal life is in turmoil, your work will seem never-ending and you’ll have a harder time focusing. Easy solution: Check your personal problems at the door and keep the two worlds separate.
- MAKE A TO-DO LIST
Make a to-do list and stick to it! Getting all of your tasks in one place highly increases the chance of them getting done, and you’ll get a sense of satisfaction as you tick each one off. The feeling that you’re making progress can really boost happiness and morale at work. When you have a lot on your plate, sometimes it feels like the work is bottomless. Try writing a small list of things you want to do each day, and doing those tasks first-thing. Then, at the end of the day, you can go back and acknowledge the progress you made.
- GIVE TIME TO YOURSELF
Give time to yourself -Just sit up straight and focus on taking long, deep breaths, with inhalations and exhalations of an even length. You’ll feel calmer and cheerier in a matter of seconds. Relax your eyes by looking at object far away and close your eyes for few seconds. Be calm, relax and tell yourself that you are free, calm and relaxed.
- TAKE A BREAK FROM YOUR DESK
Take a few minutes each day to keep in touch with your family and friends. Chatting with your loved ones improves happiness. Take a brisk walk outside. Raising your heart rate – even for a few minutes – encourages the release of feel-good endorphins, and fresh air clears the mind too. So you’ll be more productive and happier to boot when you get back to your desk.
- DON’T TRY TO CHANGE PEOPLE.
People waste a lot of energy trying to change others. But the truth is, you can’t change who people are. So when a boss or coworker’s attitude rubs you the wrong way, just take a moment and breathe. Avoid placing blame, and stay professional.
- REWARD YOURSELF.
After finishing a major task or project, or completing an especially productive day, reward yourself. Gift yourself or Treat yourself to a nice dinner, splurge on something you really want, or eat your favorite dessert. You put in the hard work, so make like Tony Stark and take care of number one – you earned it.
- LEARN TO GROW – UPDATE & UPGRADE
Learning is a continuous process. At work to climb up the ladder, to compete with heavy competition, update yourself with the current trends in the world. And upgrade yourself in the field that you have chosen. So, fix small targets and focus on growth. Learning helps you grow and growth makes you happy.
- CULTIVATE POSITIVE ATTITUDE.
As Francesca Reigler quotes, Happiness is an attitude, we either make ourselves miserable , or happy and strong. The amount of work is the same. So try to cultivate positive attitude which will increase your happiness.
- LEAVE OFFICE ON TIME
Finish your work first, obviously, but after that – leave the office and go home. Maintaining a good work-life balance is an important aspect of job satisfaction and thus overall happiness. A person who stays late at office is not a hard worker, but an inefficient and incompetent one. So spend quality time with your family and friends.
